ARE DENIM SHORT SHORTS FOR YOU?
August 1st, 2009 by admin

Denim is one of those materials that have been around since the 1600’s, initially as a work material.  In 2009, blue jeans serve many different purposes and have been adapted in many different ways.  Denim short shorts came about, I imagine, because of a need for additional comfort.  People wanted the denim material comfort, but didn’t want the full material around their legs.  So it was cut off.  Shorts were then born.

Short shorts are a more recent innovation.  The most famous pair of denim short shorts debuted on a popular television show in the late ‘70’s: The Dukes of Hazard.  These shorts are so famous that short shorts are still known as ‘Daisy Dukes’ the long legged character who was first seen sporting the cut off denim shorts.

Most people identify denim short shorts with summer and the heat that season brings.  There are certain body types that would benefit more wearing a longer type of shorts.  There is little left to the imagination if the person wearing the denim short shorts is sporting the tire tube around the middle, some dimpling in the thigh and are standing five foot tall to boot.  Some things to keep in mind:

Classic style denim shorts ends about mid-thigh.  This is a style that is usually flattering to quite a few people.  The relaxed shorts are designed for women with some curve to their body.  The material is more relaxed and drapes well.  Bermuda shorts end just above the knee, making the legs look a bit thicker and shorter.  Capri’s are an option if you don’t want to show a lot of leg.  They generally end a couple inches above the ankle.  Finally, denim short shorts are best worn on women with slim legs/hips with no cellulite
