Metal signs truly can come in any color!

These days, aluminum metal signs are no longer restricted to hues of gray or white, but rather are often customized to any color you can possibly imagine!  However if gray or white is your personal choice, metal signs can still be manufactured in those colors.  But if a vibrant red or royal purple suits your business or organization , then your new sign has the ability to be made to fit the bill.

*Fun Fact from TheSignChef: Do you know ALL street signs aren’t even painted? Not one of them! Instead, they are covered with colored reflective vinyl and then sealed to make sure the vinyl doesn’t chip or peel.

So can I really pick ANY color I need for my custom metal sign?

Survey says….YES!  So how exactly does that happen?  Well there are a few different approaches depending on the thickness of the aluminum metal you select.

What are the basic color choices for a typical outdoor metal sign?

Common metal yard signs (most often real estate signs) are .040” in thickness.  For these signs, there are a host of colors that we have easily accessible and in store at TheSignChef manufacturing house, such as:

• Black
• Yellow
• Green
• Blue
• Red
• Orange
• Brushed Silver
• Mirrored Silver
• Brushed Gold
• Mirror Gold

These colors are factory painted aluminum colors and are available ready for printing and cutting.

Well how about something that is a bit more thick and rigid?

Thicker sheets of aluminum (as thick as .080”) are also readily available factory painted, however can be personalized further to accomplish the particular color you seek.

Much like street signs, you can cover any sheet of aluminum metal signage with vinyl in an infinite range of colors.  The method is quite easy.  The vinyl is applied just after the metal is cut and previous to your logo, lettering and design is integrated.

If vinyl is definitely not a look you want, we can easily spray paint or powder coat your sign to match up your color sample.  (This is perfect should you be looking for something other than the basic color choice offered for .040” thicknesses, too.)  The same as going to any paint retail store, you can select a sample of the color you would like us to match and our Art Department will go to work creating the ideal mixture of power coating or spray paints to make your color transpire!

Still want to see a few tones of a certain color? No problem! As you would select paint for the walls of your business, using samples to hold up and take into consideration, the same can occur in picking the color of your metal sign.  By doing this you will be sure to get the color you’ve been picturing in your mind.

Speaking of “vibrant and lasting”, just how long will the color of my metal sign last?

Our custom metal signs are rated to last 5-7 years.  Whatever color you ultimately choose  (and you know there’s a lot of options now!) or how it is reached, a clear UV protective laminate is applied to all metal signs to help it resist color attacking agents including weather, the sun, pollution, rust, etc.
